Representatives of Teaching and Research Staff from the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology, Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) visited the Universitas Negeri Padang campus, on 19-21 October 2023. The visit was intended to carry out exploratory and preliminary survey of the National Seminar which is planned to be held in December 2023.
The member of team from IPB namely Dr. Muhammad Taufik, S.Si., M.Si, and Dr. I Putu Santikayasa, S.Si., M.Sc.They arrived on Thursday, 19 October 2023, before noon at Minangkabau International Airport, and were immediately welcomed by the Head of RCCC-UNP, Dr. Nofi Yendri Sudiar, S.Si., M.Si.
After the lunch session, the group of guests from IPB immediately had an audience with RCCC researchers, Prof. Yohandri, S.Si, M.Si, Ph,D and Maizirwan, S.Si., M.Si. Get involved in this occassion, the Head of the Physics Department FMIPA UNP, Prof. Dr. Asrizal, M.Si, and Head of the Physics Study Program, Dr. Harman Amir, M.Si.
The meeting was running warmly and constructively. Both parties agreed a series of National Seminars will be held on 5-7 December 2023 at UNP, with a definitive theme to be determined in the nearest future. However, it was concluded that several main topic candidates were Pollution and Forest Fires, the Impact of Climate Change on the Environment,and Sustainability and Green Economy.
It was also agreed that later, Keynote Speaker will be requested from representatives of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Meanwhile, invited speaker came from IPB, UNP, Perhimpi, and Andalas University. The National Seminar exploratory meeting also agreed that a jury team would be formed whose task would be to determine best paper, best poster and best presenter.
Furthermore, the series of National Seminars will be completed with a visit by the entire committee, climate researchers, participants and guests of the National Seminar to GAW Bukit Kototabang Station, Agam. According to the plan, this event will be held on December 6 2023. It has been agreed that the technical details of this visit will be handed over to the Event Organizer (EO) appointed by the committee.
The two IPB representative members on the next day, Friday 20 October 2023, visited GAW Bukit Kototabang Station, Agam, accompanied directly by the Head of RCCC, Dr. Nofi Yendri Sudiar, S.Si., M.Si.There he was immediately greeted by the Head of the GAW Station, Dr. Sugeng Nugroho, M.Si. The IPB team was surprised to find that Air Quality Control designed by the GAW Bukit Kototabang team exceeded expectations. They immediately decided to order for academic and research purposes at IPB. Interestingly, an idea emerged to design a collaboration in the form of further studies of the Bukit Kototabang GAW Station crew in a satellite campus scheme, where it is possible that the main supervisor will come from IPB, and the second supervisor will come from UNP.
The National Seminar Preliminary Survey Visit from IPB ended on Saturday, 21 October 2023 after a two night stay at the Ocean Beach Hotel, Jalan Samudra, Padang. [MIG]
