Universitas Negeri Padang, through the Department of Physics FMIPA UNP and the Research Center for Climate Change in collaboration with the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics FMIPA IPB University collaborated with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to hold a National Seminar entitled "Application of Climatology in Various Fields Science.
On this occasion, there was also a signing session for the Memorandum of Agreement and Implementation of Agreement between FMIPA UNP and FMIPA IPB University, as well as between the FMIPA UNP Physics Study Program and the Applied Meteorology Study Program FMIPA IPB University The two cooperation documents were signed directly by representatives of the two campuses. FMIPA UNP in this case was represented by the Dean of FMIPA UNP, Dr. Yulkifli, M.Si, while IPB University was represented by Deputy Dean I FMIPA Dr. Ahmad Faqih witnessed by representatives of BMKG, GAW Bukit Kototabang and BMKG West Sumatra.

This seminar activity aims to promote dialogue and discussion on the application of climate science to various sectors. It is hoped that the output of this seminar can contribute to the initiation of research collaboration between IPB and UNP researchers. This seminar is also part of the Educational Collaboration between IPB and BMKG which has been going on for more than 10 years.
In this seminar, which was held in a triangle for the first time by these three prestigious institutions, 3 parallel sessions were held. Meanwhile, the Dean of FMIPA UNP, Dr. Yulkifli, S.Pd., M.Si in his welcoming speech emphasized the importance of the nature of the development of science as part of the locomotive of civilization. “If scientists no longer want to collaborate to study natural phenomena, civilization will be on the verge of collapse. "Moreover, climate change is both a threat and an opportunity for future research exploration."
In this full day activity, 18 research results from two campuses, UNP and IPB, were displayed. A total of 13 of them are the result of research from IPB postgraduate students, both Masters and Doctoral. Meanwhile, the other 5 are the results of studies by undergraduate and master's students at the Department of Physics, FMIPA UNP. * [MIG]
